Home glazing used to be produced in a different way than today. The Belgian Fourcault developed a new way of producing glass around 1920. This involved pulling a sheet of glass with a kind of comb from a melting sheet of glass. Hence old glass is also called "pulled glass. The surface of this glass was not yet as smooth as the later single glass, or float glass, which came on the market from 1960. As a result, you can see a distortion in the pane of this monumental glass, something that we can imitate perfectly in our modern insulation glass for monuments.
Our insulating glass consists of two sheets of glass with a 4 mm cavity between them. This cavity ensures the insulating effect of your monument. In addition to lower energy costs, you experience much better living comfort due to the absence of cold fall. Also, problems with condensation are a thing of the past. With a pane of only 10 mm, we can achieve an insulation value (U-value) of no less than 1.4. By comparison, old-fashioned single-glazing achieves a U-value of 5.8.
Our insulation glass for monuments is modern glass with an authentic look. It can almost always be fitted into existing frames. Our innovative ultra thin insulation glass is available from 10 mm thickness. With our monumental insulation glass you can preserve the historic appearance, but with the insulation values of modern glass. AA Glas is a true expert in insulating monumental buildings and offers a unique quality. Because of our own product line and expert installation, we can deliver the best possible insulating glass that you can enjoy for a long time.
